DescriptionTOAD Theater Camp runs ALL DAY, from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with performances on the last Friday and the Saturday after the final week ends. (6:00 p.m. August 8, 2:00 AND 6:00 p.m. August 9). Your camper must be present for the shows.
CWA is proud to partner again with Theatre of Arts Discipline (TOAD) to offer a three-week theater program. Students will learn basic theater and acting principles, choreography, and singing, all while having fun in the process. This program will culminate in a fully-staged and costumed evening performance of Shrek: The Musical! JR.
About the Musical: Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets?
Please note if registration does not meet the minimum cast requirements for Shrek, TOAD will transition to a show with a smaller cast size.
Registration includes all activities and a snack. Campers must bring their own lunch and water bottle. Camps are based on your camper’s rising grade for the upcoming school year.
