Description
"Art Around the World is an engaging and exploratory visual arts class designed to introduce elementary students to the diverse artistic traditions, techniques, and stories from cultures across the globe. Students will “travel” from continent to continent, discovering how people express identity, beliefs, and community through art. Through hands-on projects, students will work with a wide variety of materials to bring global art traditions to life in their own creative way. Key Concepts & Skills: 1. Global Cultural Awareness •Exposure to diverse cultures through art •Appreciation for global traditions and customs •Understanding the role of art in storytelling, celebration, and daily life 2. Elements of Art & Principles of Design •Color theory: warm/cool colors, complementary colors, tints/shades •Pattern and repetition in global textiles, ceramics, and design •Shape, line, texture, form, and composition 3. Artistic Techniques •Painting (tempera and watercolor) •Drawing (markers, oil and chalk pastels) •Mixed media and collage •Basic clay sculpting and texture carving •Canvas board painting for final projects 4. Fine Motor Skills & Artistic Confidence •Cutting, gluing, shaping, sketching, and painting •Spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination •Building persistence, pride in craftsmanship, and creative expression"

All Enrichment and Afterschool Programming: the last day to cancel an enrollment is 08/18/2025 at 11:30 pm.
Early Dismissal Wednesday Program: the last day to cancel any enrollment is 07/28/2025.
Once registration closes, changes will not be honored and no refunds will be given.
