Description
Sharpen your math skills and build confidence before the school year begins with Math Momentum, Powhatan’s enrichment camp designed for rising pre-algebra and algebra students. Led by experienced math instructor Mrs. McKenna, this camp offers a focused and supportive environment designed to bridge learning gaps and prepare students for success in future mathematics courses. By providing focused, interactive instruction during a concentrated week, students can strengthen their foundational math skills, develop problem-solving strategies, and gain the confidence needed to approach mathematical challenges with enthusiasm. The small group setting allows for personalized attention, helping students overcome individual learning obstacles and develop a more positive relationship with mathematics.
Through engaging activities, collaborative challenges, and individualized instruction, students will reinforce foundational skills and deepen their understanding of critical topics like equations, expressions, integers, and linear relationships.
Whether your student is looking to refresh their knowledge or push their skills further, Math Momentum will help them hit the ground running with clarity and confidence this fall.
During the week, we will cover the following topics in Pre-Algebra:
fluency with integers and fractions
percents, ratios, and proportions
solving one-step equations
using formulas to solve word problems
During the week, we will cover the following topics in Algebra:
solving multi-step equations
evaluating functions, domain and range
simplifying exponents and square roots
linear equations

No supplies needed. All supplies will be provided for this activity.
