Daniel Lipton“Massachusetts Teacher of the Year 2015 Finalist”Hello, I am Daniel. I am a father of two and have over 18+ years of teaching second grade in a public school setting. As an educator, I have experience working with students of all learning and language needs. As a director for a theater camp for 15+ years, I love to leverage stories, acting games, and songs to make my classes interactive, fun and learning filled! In addition to teaching, I have experience tutoring K-Adult and served as a teacher mentor to other teachers. Like my students, I too am a practitioner of learning and have 2 Master's Degrees in Education. I am also a certified literacy specialist and math specialist. In 2015 I was also honored as a Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Finalist.

DescriptionLearn about animals under the sea, including the octopus, whale, and shark. Learn about ocean food chains, ocean pollution, and why oceans are so important to life. We will use songs, stories, trivia, short videos, and more fun activities to learn about life under the sea. We will also learn about famous marine biologist and explorers, and we will think about what it takes to be an under sea explorer!

DescriptionIn this musical theater class, we will act out some of the songs and scenes from Lion King. We will do a reader’s theater, a sing along, some dance moves, and some reader’s theater all based on The Lion King musical.
Mathopotamia!

DescriptionMATH ADVENTURES: This class will help you to practice elementary math concepts through games, songs, stories and art. We will travel to the fictional land of Mathopotamia where we will let our imagination set sail as we study geometry, addition and subtraction, multiplication, number sense, place value, money, telling time and more. We will play games such as SET and Number Bingo. We will do original songs that I wrote as well as picture books and songs written by others. We will create an original musical called Mathopotamia. Students of all math abilities are welcomed. We will make sure the class is low key and fun for all. Parents will also be given some additional optional math activities they can do before/after class each day.

Making Roller Coasters

DescriptionWe will learn about the history of roller coasters, how roller coasters are created, and the forces at play with roller coasters. We will create roller coasters online and with recycled materials. We will also look at some famous roller coasters around the world! Please bring some recycled materials, tape, scissors, paper, and things to draw and write with.

It's A Bird! It's a Plane! Learning about Flight

DescriptionThis class will help you to learn about how birds and airplanes fly. We will learn about the Wright Brothers and how planes were invented. We will compare the flight of birds to planes. We will use videos, photos, hands on projects, and songs to help us with our understanding. Students will do some experiments with paper airplanes that we will create during class. Learn about how and why animals and objects can fly in this interactive physics/engineering/life sciences class!
