Upper School Government

DescriptionThe History Department is thrilled to offer an intensive summer program that allows students to complete their required Government course in just three weeks! While the course will appear as "Government" on transcripts, it is designed with an AP-track approach. High-achieving students who review material in the spring will be well-prepared to take the AP Government and Politics Exam in May, should they choose to do so. This accelerated program includes nightly homework—such as readings and videos—as well as weekly assessments to gauge mastery of the content. By completing this course over the summer, students can create greater flexibility in their academic schedules during the school year.

DescriptionGlobal Seminar I (GSI) examines the concept of global citizenship and develops students’ level of global competence by examining local, global, and intercultural issues while understanding and appreciating the perspectives and world views of others. Students will engage in discussion-based classes, hear from guest speakers, follow the global news cycle, and practice intercultural dialogue. ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: What does it mean to be a global citizen? What are the pros and cons of globalization for the world? How do our actions affect those living around the globe, and why should we care?
