They’ll explore the joy of shaping and molding clay while learning essential hand-building techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab construction to create bowls, cups, sculptures, and other unique works of art. Students will be introduced to real clay tools and simple building methods as they design and construct their own imaginative creations. To enrich their experience, they’ll also have the opportunity to try the pottery wheel in a playful, beginner-friendly way—discovering the excitement of spinning and shaping clay. Throughout the class, students will experiment with surface decoration techniques like carving, stamping, and glazing to add texture, color, and detail to their pieces. Using air-dry clay and vibrant finishes, they’ll complete beautiful, handmade artworks that reflect their personal creativity and artistic voice.
