As the events manager at Berkeley’s premiere board game café, a part-time paraeducator, and a local community organizer I am thrilled to bring my passion for story gaming into the classroom. Games teach us the function of rules, how to think ahead, and to work with others. Stories teach us how to think and talk about ourselves and the world around us. Storytelling games (also called tabletop RPGs), then, are a kid’s best tool for taking control of their own narrative and finding ways to build that world with their friends. Have a seat, grab a character sheet, and let our imaginations (and maybe some dice) do the rest!
