Description
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead. Members will explore our country's foundations—authority, justice, responsibility, and privacy while studying a public policy problem in our community. Our final product is a portfolio that may be presented to other groups, community organizations, or policymakers. See Project Citizen - civiced.org for more information. In addition to using the Center for Civic Education's materials, We the Kids will work on two other tasks: - Work with PS 8's Student Council to facilitate the spending of Participatory Budgeting money that has been granted to the school from the city. - Begin an oral history project to be shared next fall in observance of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Permission includes walking trips within the school community for research purposes.
