Description
Course Description: Geometry is a full year course that explores the basic elements of Euclidean Geometry. The course primarily employs deductive methods of reasoning to study basic two and three-dimensional shapes and their properties. This course also aims to reinforce algebraic concepts, with a particular emphasis on the connections between math and science. Topics include points, lines, planes, angles, properties of parallel and perpendicular lines, congruent triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, similarity, right triangles, circles, and applications to area and volume. Using theorems, postulates, and definitions, students use logical reasoning skills to prove relationships between lines, angles, and basic geometric shapes. Throughout the year real-world applications of both plane and solid Geometry are stressed.
