DescriptionIn this hands-on, after-school enrichment program, students will explore the flavors, stories, and traditions of wild, local, and seasonal foods. Each week, learners will discover a new ingredient found in our region—from wild herbs and edible flowers to seasonal fruits and vegetables—and transform it into simple, delicious recipes they can make at home. Along the way, students will gain skills in safe harvesting, kitchen basics, and sustainable cooking practices while deepening their connection to nature and the food we eat.
Through tasting, cooking, and creative activities, students will:
1. Learn to identify and use wild and seasonal ingredients.
2. Practice age-appropriate cooking techniques.
3. Explore food traditions and cultural uses of local plants.
4. Develop teamwork and creativity in the kitchen.
Take home recipes and ideas to share with their families.
Materials fee is $50 (included in total cost) so that our instructor can procure local ingredients!
