Description
Welcome to an exciting journey into the world of radio-controlled trucks! In each class, students will seamlessly connect STEM concepts to the hands-on experience of building their own Traxxas SLASH racing trucks. They'll dive into key STEM principles, including mathematics, physics, engineering, and manufacturing. As they assemble their trucks, students will learn how to fine-tune and race them, applying the theories they've mastered. The session culminates in a thrilling final project, where students put their STEM knowledge and driving skills to the test by launching their trucks across a 25ft ravine. Success will hinge on precise calculations and solid driving skills. Key concepts covered include solving equations, using measurement and hand tools, calculating velocities, understanding centers of gravity, and applying kinematic equations of projectile motion, tuning camber/toe, racing techniques. Students will be provided with all the necessary tools and equipment to build their trucks. Each participant will receive the Radio Control Truck Session 1.0 build/STEM manual, and of course, they get to take their trucks home!

About the provider
Junior High Students Race to Join Cutting-Edge R/C Program! Explore the world of science, technology, engineering and math with interactive, hands-on courses designed for Jr. High students.
Carlos's engineering journey began in childhood, where his innate curiosity drove him to dismantle his toys to understand their inner workings. This passion for discovery led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at San Jose State University. With over 14 years of experience in the medical device product development industry, Carlos founded Design Fox in 2019. A hands-on engineer at heart, Carlos thrives in the machine shop, where he enjoys building prototypes himself. Under his leadership, Design Fox has collaborated with several leading companies in the medical device field, with a particular focus on developing cutting-edge medical robotics for various treatments. Carlos is equally passionate about education, especially in inspiring the next generation to explore STEM fields. Throughout his career, he has engaged with hundreds of students, nurturing their creativity and sparking their curiosity to build and innovate. Many previous students are enjoying successful tech careers that were sparked through Carlos' passion for teaching.
