Description
FreeWild is an introduction to urban naturalism whose primary goals are to get your kids outside and to create within them a deeper connection with the natural world. Through outdoor education, imaginative play, and cooperation, our aim is to inspire kids to understand the value of mindful stewardship. Our instructor is certified in outdoor education and ecology through Alderleaf Wilderness College, and has years of experience as a childcare professional. At the core of our ethos lies a passionate belief in the power of community engagement, and it is from this place of expertise and philosophy that we hope to inspire the next generation of Earth’s caretakers. Welcome to the Freewild Society, we are glad you are here. **Please ensure that students come prepared to spend the afternoon in the forest, in weather appropriate clothing and shoes. Hiking shoes or sneakers that can get dirty are best, flip-flops, crocs, or hard soled shoes do not work well in the hilly, muddy terrain of Schmitz Park.

The Freewild Society: Choose your own adventure.
Our mission is to encourage independence, emotional intelligence, social skills, and self-confidence in children through an immersive experience with nature. Our goals are to provide children with an enhanced and vibrant connection to the natural world, to strengthen their critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, and to foster an appreciation for the unique and valuable contributions that every one of us has to offer. We aim to illuminate the inter-connectedness of all things and to inspire new generations of service-minded caretakers and socially-responsible community members who are engaged, resourceful, and compassionate.
