Description
Step into a world of creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative fun! In Tabletop Tinkerers, students will explore a wide variety of classic and modern board games—and take their problem-solving to the next level by transforming everyday game pieces into components for building mini Rube Goldberg machines. Each session blends structured gameplay with hands-on invention, giving students the chance to analyze game mechanics, develop social and strategic thinking, and apply basic STEAM concepts through playful engineering challenges. Students will: 🎲 Play age-appropriate board games that build strategy, math reasoning, and communication skills 🧠 Explore cause-and-effect through chain reactions using pieces like dominos, playing cards, marbles, and more 🔧 Design and test simple Rube Goldberg-style contraptions using familiar game elements and board game materials 🤝 Practice turn-taking, collaboration, and creative problem-solving in both play and building activities 🎨 Combine what they've learned to invent their own game-inspired chain reaction challenges By the end of the course, students will not only have expanded their gaming knowledge and social confidence but will also have experienced the joy of transforming gameplay into motion, logic into movement, and learning into something spectacularly fun.
