Description
ACDS teachers will offer a comprehensive SSAT refresher course that provides rigorous instruction in both quantitative and verbal reasoning. The workshops encompass mathematical computations and English proficiency in vocabulary, analogies, reading, writing, and grammar. We will also hone in on test-taking strategies and incorporate stress-management techniques vital for optimal performance. Each course includes tutorials with strategies and practice exercises with one-on-one assistance on each test section, a preparation checklist for how to prepare after the workshop, as well as information about interpreting scores and expectations on test day. *Students must supply their own Princeton Review's SSAT book (2nd edition).
Señora Gómez has hands-on experience with the HSPT & SSAT process from both a parent and a teacher perspective. She has a BA degree in English education as well as a Masters in foreign language instruction, and will be assisting in the reading English language, essay writing and interviewing components of the workshop. Ms. Issembert brings innovative teaching techniques and strategies for the English components of the test including verbal, vocabulary, and writing, as well as interviewing strategies. Ms. Issembert holds a BS from Skidmore College and an MA from New York University. Dr. Carr has over 10 years of experience as a teacher and tutor in mathematics and applied math concepts from middle school through AP calculus, and experience with a variety of standardized test formats. He holds a BS and PhD in atmospheric science.
