Description
Designed by Stanford Artificial Intelligence professor David Zhu, PockeTurtle is a novel Computational Thinking curriculum that is currently being implemented rapidly at 1000s of elementary schools in Korea and China. Oak Knoll is one of the first and only schools to offer this curriculum in the US!
The course, “PockeTurtle Level 2: K-2 Coding & Computational Thinking”, is taught to K-2 kids by Stanford Computer Science students. The curriculum, based around a small turtle-like robot and carefully designed colorful tools and booklets, teaches students to fully visualize problems and solutions by merging their thoughts with the physical environment. They then test their reasoning by ‘teaching’, or programming, their turtle robot to solve the task at hand.
To enroll in “PockeTurtle Level 2” your student must have either completed "PockeTurtle Level 1" or be approved to skip Level 1. If you think your student should skip to Level 2 please email brendan@hatchlearning.org.
“PockeTurtle Level 2” will be taught once per week for 9 weeks as an after-school course at Oak Knoll. The classes are comprised of no more than 12 K-2 students and 2 teachers. Register for one of our limited spots before the class fills up!

Cancellation policy
If you decide not to continue the program within the first week of the classes, you will receive a refund for the remaining weeks.

Computational thinking is the problem-solving skill of the digital world. Learning this skill takes on increasing importance for students as they enter a world that relies more and more heavily on the use of computers to solve previously unsolvable problems. Furthermore, Kindergarten is the perfect time to start learning computational thinking, a skill that we believe is as important as reading and writing and will be applicable to all academic interests and future career choices. Hatch Learning offers computational thinking, coding, and artificial intelligence classes for K-4 students.
