Welcome IMES Families! We are thrilled to offer a diverse range of before and after-school activities that not only enrich our students' lives but also foster a sense of community and growth. As you register your child for these programs, we'd like to remind you of the dual purpose of this initiative. While our primary goal is to provide our students with valuable experiences, this initiative also serves as a crucial fundraiser for the IMES PTO. The funds we raise directly support various activities and resources for our students throughout the year! We understand that every family's financial situation is different. However, if you are in a position to make an additional donation or cover the credit card and registration fees, it would greatly assist our efforts. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant difference in our ability to enhance the educational experience for all our students. Thank you for your continued support and for being an integral part of our school community! Together, we can ensure that our children have access to the best resources and opportunities. Thank you! The IMES PTO Eddie's Extras Committee IMPORTANT INFORMATION: REGISTRATION: We cannot accept registrations for children other than your own. Registering for friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. will not be accepted. However, families can register multiple children for activities within one single transaction. (No need to have separate transactions for individual students!) Simply fill your cart with all of the classes you would like to enroll your children in, and begin the check out process. CLASS TIMES & LOCATIONS: All classes take place at Increase Miller Elementary School. All BEFORE school classes are held from 8:10am – 9:10am. Students should arrive on time and be walked to the front entrance of the school. All AFTER school classes are from 3:45pm - 4:45pm. All students in after school classes meet in the cafeteria at 3:40 pm. After attendance is taken, students are escorted to their classes which begin at 3:45 pm. Pick-up is promptly at 4:45pm. Bus transportation is not provided. Students must be picked up by a pre-authorized parent or guardian. For safety reasons, students will not be excused from their program until a parent or guardian comes for them. Your child's instructor will escort the children to the dismissal location at the end of the program (at 4:45). In the coming weeks, you will receive confirmation of the specific location for pick up (i.e. the gymnasium or the cafeteria). If a parent or guardian is consistently late to pick up a child at 4:45, you may be incurred a late fee and your child’s participation in the program may be in jeopardy. EDDIE’S EXTRAS IS A PTO-RUN PROGRAM: The Increase Miller PTO, a not-for-profit organization run by parent volunteers, organizes the Eddie’s Extras program. While the Katonah Lewisboro School District allows the PTO to use classroom space for our classes, they do not oversee our program. We are two separate entities. As such, we have no access to information you have provided to the school district, such as contact information for your family, emergency contact information for your family, medical information on your child, and information on any kind of special services that your child receives. CONDUCT: WE EXPECT ALL STUDENTS TO BE KIND, RESPONSIBLE, AND SAFE DURING ALL BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CLASSES. WE HAVE A STRICT NON-NEGOTIABLE ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY FOR ANY CHILD'S BEHAVIOR THAT IS DEEMED UNSAFE, DISRESPECTFUL, OR DISRUPTIVE, REGARDLESS IF IT'S AIMED AT A STUDENT, AN INSTRUCTOR, OR THEMSELF. IF A CHILD ENGAGES IN ANY SUCH BEHAVIOR, THE PTO WILL SIMPLY REMOVE THE CHILD FROM THE PROGRAM. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED. DISMISSAL PROCEDURE: Please note that all IMES classroom teachers and Eden Ladd in the Main Office will be informed about your child’s participation in our after school classes. You do not need to send Ms. Ladd or your child’s teacher a note with instructions for dismissal on days when they are participating in their after school class. However, if your child will NOT be attending their after school class on a specific date or dates (i.e. your child will take the bus home or will be picked up at the end of the school day), please inform your child’s teacher and Ms. Ladd with an email (eladd@klschools.org). SNACKS: *NEW SNACK POLICY* Beginning on Monday 3/11, we will NO LONGER be allowing students to have a snack during attendance. This year we have an unprecedented amount of students with serious and high-risk allergies. Please ask your child to refrain from eating during Eddie's Extras. Thank you for your understanding. NURSE’S OFFICE DURING EDDIE’S EXTRAS CLASSES: The school nurse only works during school hours, so we have NO NURSE on staff during Eddie’s Extras classes. In the event of an emergency, our monitors have access to cold packs and bandages. There are NO medical professionals are in the building during your child’s classes. If a student has one, please pack an Epi-pen and/or inhaler in their backpacks on after school activity days. We cannot guarantee that our teaching professionals and program monitors know how to use an Epi-pen. MAKE UP CLASSES: Make up classes will be held at the end of the session for classes cancelled due to school closures or early dismissals. If your child misses a class due to illness (or any other reason), no make up classes will be offered. There are no before school classes on days of a delayed opening. SUPPORT for STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: The IMES PTO works very hard to make the Eddie’s Extras program as welcoming as possible to all students at Increase Miller. If your child works with a medical aide during the school day and/or with an aide because of developmental delays or impairments, we would love to try to provide support to your child in a before or after school class. Please remember that we do not have access to your child’s IEP, and we will need to be informed about your child’s needs. We make every effort to provide nurturing and effective support for all students, but we cannot guarantee this offering. Once we determine that availability of our staff and how it aligns with the class or classes your child wishes to take, we will notify you on whether we can accommodate your child’s registration for the class. Please also note that the teachers in our program may not have experience working with students with special needs. We try to hire monitors for our program who have worked with students with needs in the past, but again, we cannot guarantee their certifications or professional history. In some cases, we can welcome a parent or guardian to attend class with their child. For a further discussion, please feel free to email us at imesptoextras@gmail.com.
