REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
The registration period for the Winter 2026 session of enrichment opens Friday, Dec 19 at 9am and will close Wednesday, Jan 7 at 9pm.
The winter session will have:
-FULL SESSION which runs Jan 20-March 27–8 weeks for Monday classes and 9 weeks for Tues-Fri classes (note there is no class Monday, Jan 19).
-SHORT SESSION which runs Feb 9-March 27–6 weeks (this session starts once the PTA Musical Program is over and we have more space available at school)
**Please be sure to check the start date of the program you are registering for.**
There will be no classes Feb 16-20 due to mid-winter break.
Classes range in length from 60-90 minutes. Please note the class length when registering.
NEW SALES TAX & NO SCHOOL FEE:
You may have heard that due to Washington State’s new law (ESSB 5814) effective October 1, 2025, Washington State requires sales tax on most instructor-led, live classes. Many after-school enrichment programs taught by independent providers are now classified as retail sales subject to retailing Business & Occupation (B&O) tax and retail sales tax. Sales tax adds 8-11% (depending on your city, 10.35% in Seattle) to the cost of after-school activities.
During check out, Homeroom will add this tax to applicable classes. You will see this tax added to your bill and you will be asked to confirm that you are aware this sales tax has been added.
Alki PTA has removed the school fee that had been charged in previous enrichment sessions. We are hoping that that reduction in price will help balance out the new tax, keeping the price of these programs as low as possible for our community. Please understand that this sales tax is out of the control of our enrichment providers.
SCHOLARSHIPS:
One needs-based scholarship will be provided by each enrichment vendor this session (some specify that a minimum number of students be enrolled before they can offer a scholarship). Students are eligible to receive one enrichment program scholarship per school year, subject to availability.
If you would like to request a scholarship, please add the class to your cart and you will see the option to request the WINTER2026 discount before completing payment. You will not be charged at this time. Alki PTA will be notified of your request and no payment will be processed until it is approved or denied (if denied you will be prompted to pay, you will not be charged automatically). Due to the winter break, we will process scholarship requests when we return to school.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
This program cannot run without volunteer support! Please join us in supporting this program through the following volunteer roles:
-ENRICHMENT COMMITTEE CHAIR(S)--work with the enrichment committee to plan the programs, interact with the vendors, oversee the day to day operations and more! This role can be filled by multiple people.
-ENRICHMENT COMMITTEE--join the committee to help plan the program, survey the community, find new vendors and more!
-DAILY VOLUNTEERS--each day that we run programs we need to have a PTA volunteer onsite. You will receive priority registration for one class, an Alki T shirt or Sweatshirt, and snacks on the days you volunteer! You can volunteer once a week for the entire session (8-9 days), or once a week for half of the session (4-5 days).

DAY-OF PROCESSES:
Teachers will drop students off in the Outdoor Recreation Covered Area (ORCA) where the instructors and a PTA volunteer will greet them. Alki PTA will provide a snack for all students before groups head to their class. You are welcome to send your student with a snack from home. No snacks will be allowed during class time.
Students should be picked up in ORCA using the Outside Doors adjacent to the blacktop between the school building and the portable classrooms. Please do not enter the front of the building. This change in pickup location will help relieve busy hallways at the end of the day.
