Morning: Bound to Read
by
Episcopal Collegiate School
Description
Bound to Read is an intensive reading program that will focus on foundational literacy skills for rising 1st graders. The program will utilize Orton Gillingham, Association Method, and Wilson Language Training approaches to solidify sound-symbol correspondence, decoding and encoding skills, tricky word knowledge, syllable types, oral reading fluency and comprehension skills. Students will be provided with an extensive interactive reading notebook as well as books to reinforce lessons and skills taught throughout the two-week camp and beyond. This will be a fun and engaging camp using multi-sensory approaches, music, movement, and art to ensure your child doesn't lose precious academic ground during the long weeks of summer. Participants will make the best progress if attending every day for the two weeks. The program will be led by a speech-language pathologist/reading specialist, and a Kindergarten lead teacher, with 18 years of teaching experience.
