This season Maddie Stinson will be leading Handling Rejection and Exclusion. Miss Maddie is currently a senior at LMU majoring in Psychology. She hopes to work with kids in the future- specifically in Childhood Development. Does your child know why rejection happens? Do they have healthy boundaries? Can they practice self-compassion? Well learning about Handling Rejection and Exclusion at your child's age has amazing benefits for the following: Improved Emotional Resilience Kids become more capable of bounding back from social setbacks, reducing the risk of anxiety, depression, or withdrawal. Healthier Peer Relationships Kids who manage rejection constructively are more likely to build and maintain friendships because they don’t react with aggression or self-isolation. Stronger Self-Esteem and Confidence Learning that rejection doesn’t define their worth helps kids build a positive self-image and internal validation. Better Conflict Resolution Skills Kids learn to talk about their feelings, ask to be included, or walk away respectfully, which promotes peace-making skills. Reduced Risk of Bullying and Aggession Kids who can handle exclusion are less likely to retaliate or become bullies themselves, creating safer school environments. In week 8, we will talk about learning to forgive and move on. Our hope is that your child learns how to stay calm and confident when someone says ‘no’ or doesn’t include them.
