DescriptionThere are 6 sessions that provide 2nd to 5th graders with hands-on experience in constructing pre-designed mechanical devices. Using kits, students will explore how rotational motion powers movement while following step-by-step instructions. This "learn by doing" approach helps students develop motor skills, follow directions, and build confidence as they assemble models such as Geneva stops, gears, pulleys, and hydraulic systems. Session topics include Geneva stops, gears, hydraulic lifts, hydraulic pumps, conveyor belts, demos of conveyor belts and Geneva stops, and an introduction to PLC controls.
