Shannon Alexander“Creative Clay Play - Exploring This Art Medium and Imagination!” Get ready for a hands-on adventure with clay that will spark your child's creativity and imagination! In this exciting art class designed for elementary students, we'll dive into the wonderful world of clay play and explore the magic of shaping and molding. Elementary aged students will meet in the Kindergarten yard for their introduction to clay! We'll start by introducing the students to different types of clay and discussing its properties. This will include a brief demonstration on how to handle and prepare the clay for sculpting. We'll encourage them to experiment with rolling, pinching, and pressing to make different shapes. Imaginative Sculpting: This is where the magic happens! Students will be given opportunities to shape their clay into various forms: animals, plants, fantasy creatures, or abstract sculptures, they'll have the chance to bring their ideas to life using the clay. Guided Projects: To help students gain confidence and learn techniques, we'll guide them through a couple of themed projects. For instance, they might create their favorite animals or make a miniature version of their dream house. Show and Tell: At the end of the class, students will have the opportunity to proudly showcase their clay masterpieces. This fosters a sense of accomplishment and encourages them to express their artistic choices. Clean-Up and Care: We'll teach students how to properly clean up their workspace and store their clay to keep it pliable for future creations. Benefits: Enhances fine motor skills as students manipulate and shape the clay. Encourages imaginative thinking and storytelling through sculpture. Builds confidence in expressing ideas through art. Fosters patience and concentration as they work on their projects.
