Description"Children will learn the basics of character design to create and draw their own characters, and will be prompted to think critically about their design choices, and develop the story of ""who"" and ""why"" their characters and creations are the way they are. This course will instruct students on the basics of character design principles and basic artistic fundamentals, and examine existing shows, cartoons, movies, and more, to understand why storytelling through characters is so successful. Day 1 - Introductions; intro to drawing, color & materials; looking at media; drawing exercise about our favorite characters Day 2 - Thinking about character themes: ""Who do we want our characters to be? What world are they from?"" etc., drawing exercise beginning to create the first version of characters Day 3 - Asking questions about our characters, making revisions and class/peer discussions about our characters and receive feedback; begin final version of character Day 4 - Finalizing finished version of character and celebrating everyone's work!"
