George Peabody Elementary“ASE Fall Semester 2021”Only currently enrolled George Peabody students may participate in any campus classes. Please voluntarily limit your child’s weekly enrollment as follows: K = 1 ASE class per week, 1st & 2nd = 2 ASE classes per week, 3rd = no more than 3 ASE classes per week, 4th & 5th may enroll in up to 5 ASE classes. PLEASE ONLY ENROLL YOUR CHILD IN CLASSES THEY WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN. Although the extra hour is welcomed by many parents and caregivers, ASE is not childcare. Discuss the course options with your child and be sure that they are prepared to meet the requirements of the class. There is a waiting list for many of the classes. Thanks!

Tuesday & Friday - Kumon Math

DescriptionKumon is an after-school math and reading program designed to help students of all ages and abilities develop essential skills and advance beyond their current grade level. It focuses on building a strong foundation in math and reading through individualized, self-paced learning using worksheets. Kumon aims to foster a love of learning and develop critical thinking skills, helping students become independent learners. Kumon Inner Richmond is consistently the best-reviewed Kumon center in the city. Students will meet twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. For students enrolled in a single subject, they will have the flexibility to either take their homework packets home to complete or to work on them during dedicated class instruction time. This option is designed to accommodate different learning preferences and schedules. However, for students who are taking both subjects, it is a requirement that they take their homework packets home to complete. This is to ensure they have sufficient time to complete the work

Friday - Podcast Production with Kodely

DescriptionIn this exciting, hands-on class, students become young podcasters—planning, recording, and editing their own shows from start to finish. They’ll brainstorm episode topics, write scripts, conduct interviews, and use tools like Soundtrap to produce high-quality audio. Students will learn storytelling, voice technique, and editing skills, and by the end, they’ll proudly share a finished podcast episode during the final showcase.

Students will use stethoscopes to check heartbeats, practice bandaging techniques, simulate surgery using fruit, and model body systems through creative crafts. The program encourages empathy, scientific curiosity, and teamwork while giving students an early look at the world of healthcare.

Thursdays - Miniatures @ Sunshine Art House

DescriptionDoes your child love to draw, sculpt, and create tiny things? If so then the Miniatures class is for them! In this class we will be creating all things mini. Students can make accessories and furniture for their doll houses or create their own miniature spaces. We will be using clay, cardboard, beads, found objects and fabric to create tiny little worlds. This class will combine drawing, sculpting, and sewing skills. No experience is necessary.
