MathQuest (Customized Math Enrichment)

DescriptionWe make Math FUN, ENGAGING & REWARDING. This program works best for those already AHEAD or AT grade level. At Mathnasium, we build strong math foundations to help children succeed in school and life. Our math-only program is tailored to each student, starting with a detailed assessment to identify learning gaps and strengths, followed by a tailored curriculum delivered in an engaging and 1:1 teaching setting. Program Highlights: - Assessment of skills: First session includes a written assessment and math activity. If you were enrolled in the previous semester, you will continue to work on your learning plan. Results are emailed to parents. Space Animations

DescriptionJoin CinemaKidz as we plan, build, and film space and Star Wars-inspired stop-motion animations! With space as our theme, students will invent their very own aliens and characters that will star in the animated projects, and build them using a variety of materials led by a professional artist. Kids will learn how the pros rig up their sets, as they use a combination of built backgrounds and green screens to create the feel of outer space. Sets and characters will be built out of wood, wire, paper mâché, clay, and a variety of other materials to look like real Hollywood productions! Students will utilize professional software, to film and edit their animated tales. I understand that the visual images or audio recordings may make my and/or my child’s identity recognizable. I agree that all reproduction and all copyrights associated with the above-described media shall remain the property of The Little Medical School. I understand that the use of the communications efforts may directly or indirectly benefit the program financially. I agree that my child and/or I am not entitled and release any right to any claim my child and/or I may have related to the use of my and/or my child’s visual images and/or audio recordings, including but not limited to, any claim for payment or royalty in connection with distribution or publication of these communications. I understand that I have the right to revoke this authorization in writing at any time by written request to The Little Medical School. But the revocation will not be effective to the extent that The Little Medical School already relied on my authorization; for example, the revocation will not apply to publications already in production nor will it apply to publications already distributed to the public. Otherwise, the authorization will remain in effect for 5 years or until the media utilizing the photograph(s) or interviews are no longer in use, whichever occurs later. I understand that The Little Medical School will not condition my and/or my child’s participation on whether I sign this consent and authorization. I have read and understand the terms of this Consent. My registration evidences my voluntary consent and authorization for the publication of visual images and/or audio recordings of me and/or my child by The Little Medical School. Confidentiality and non-use agreement: 1. CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION. For purposes of this Agreement “Confidential Information” shall include, without limitation, the following information and documentation concerning the respective business and affairs of LMS: financial matters and conditions, business practices, policies, procedures and business processes, intellectual property including, but not limited to copyrights, patents, trademarks and service marks, trade secrets, know how and other information not generally known or used in the trade and industry. 2. PROTECTION OF CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION. INDIVIDUAL agrees to keep the Confidential Information of LMS in strict confidence and not to disclose or otherwise use such Confidential Information for any purpose other than as is necessary to assess the feasibility, development and implementation of the Project. INDIVIDUAL agrees not to utilize the Confidential Information of LMS in any manner to compete with or criticize LMS. INDIVIDUAL agrees that Confidential Information is the exclusive property of LMS and, INDIVIDUAL shall not copy or reproduce or permit such items to be copied or reproduced by any method without the express written permission of the disclosing party. 3. APPLICABLE LAW. This Agreement is to be made under and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Missouri and constitutes the entire understanding between the parties hereto with respect to the subject matter hereof and merges any and all prior agreements, understandings and representations. 4. REMEDY. INDIVIDUAL understands and agrees that, because of the unique nature of the Confidential Information, LMS will suffer irreparable harm in the event that INDIVIDUAL fails to comply with any of its obligations under this Agreement and monetary damages will be inadequate to compensate LMS for such breach. Accordingly, INDIVIDUAL agrees that LMS shall, in addition to any other remedies available to it at law or in equity, be entitled to injunctive relief to enforce the terms of this Agreement.

DescriptionObjective: To understand how the position of the sun affects shadows and to introduce the concept of solar time. Place a lump of playdough in the center of the plate. Stick a straw vertically into the playdough—this acts as the gnomon of the sundial. On a sunny day, we will place the plate outside where it will receive unobstructed sunlight. We will use the marker to mark the shadow’s position at the start of the hour, and label it with the time. We will check back every 15 min to mark and label the shadow’s position. Observe how the shadow moves around the plate. Educational Takeaway: This experiment teaches children about the Earth’s rotation, how it affects the position of shadows, and the concept of telling time using the sun.

DescriptionObjective: To demonstrate how salt affects the freezing point of water. Procedure: Place an ice cube in a glass of water. Lay the string across the ice cube and sprinkle salt on the ice cube where the string lies. Wait about a minute for the ice to partially melt and then refreeze around the string. Gently pull the string to lift the ice cube out of the water. Educational Takeaway: Kids learn about freezing point depression, demonstrating how adding salt changes the physical properties of ice and water.

Colorful Milk Art

DescriptionObjective: To illustrate chemical reactions and fluid dynamics. Procedure: Pour milk into a shallow dish to just cover the bottom. Add a few drops of different colored food coloring to the milk. Dip a cotton swab into dish soap and then lightly touch the center of the milk dish with the soapy swab. Observe the burst of color as the soap disperses through the milk. Educational Takeaway: Kids see how soap molecules interact with fat in the milk, causing movement and color mixing.

DescriptionObjective: To explore static electricity and its effects. Inflate the balloon and tie it off. Rub the balloon against your hair or a woolen fabric for a few seconds. Hold the balloon close to the small paper pieces or pepper without touching them. Watch as the static charge built up on the balloon attracts the paper or pepper. Educational Takeaway: Introduces the concept of static electricity and how it can attract objects.
