DescriptionThis course is all about creative building, storytelling, and working together to make a TV Show! Over this hands-on course, children will build several types of puppets, and utilize film technology to bring their characters to life in a series of fun short skits. Think projects like The Dark Crystal to Sesame Street! Kidz explore different puppetry styles, creating several exciting puppets of their own, and learn to bring their character to life with basic puppet manipulation, voice acting, and interactive storytelling! Kidz will learn how important working together is when they help one another create scenes. Kidz work together to manipulate the movements of their puppet, while others film and act out the scene using their voice, as well as act in the skits themselves. Participants will experiment with various creative techniques to film these skits, using green screens and stop motion to name a few. After production wraps, children will take home the puppets they made, and an original Puppet show!

Creative Rhythm Dance Class

In this interactive movement and dance class, students will experience different styles of movement and dance (ie. hip hop, creative movement, rhythm-based movement, yoga and more). The class will introduce students to various art form materials, concepts, and approaches. We will present art and artists in "snack" sized bits so that any elementary school student can grasp them. The class starts with the basics of sketching, then shapes, followed by the fundamental representation of light so that the students may establish a "toolset" that they can draw from to express their imagination and creativity. The student will also learn art appreciation and respect through a simulated or digital "Gallery exhibition." Ultimately, the class aims to instill an enriching appreciation for the visual arts and encourage students to pursue a career path in the arts.

New students will learn machine safety, beginner sewing techniques, and complete two prerequisite projects, while the more experienced students can expand on skills they already have.
