Dance and Cheer by Brynum Arts & Education
by BCA
Description(VC)Bynum Arts & Education's Cheer and Dance Combination Class is a place for youth to nurture their love for movement. Professional dancer and coach, Keke Duncan will give students exposure to both cheerleading and dance techniques, blending elements from both disciplines to create a well-rounded skill set. In this beginner class, students will work on fluid movements within hip hop, sharp lines inspired by cheerleading, choreography retention, basic stunts, and performance skills. Because an important part of cheering and dance is the relationships between the teammates, students will also work on trust, communication, and connection with one another. Students will get to learn the fundamentals of cheerleading and dance in a fun, energetic environment! Understanding rhythm is essential for success in this class and we want it to be an enjoyable experience for all! We will play games to gauge the ears of our friends to establish timing, hear from peers and to just have fun! Engaging them with activities like freeze dance, musical squares, groove sessions or partner work to set the tone of balance. Dance and cheering require focus and energy; but it should still be fun! We value the lighthearted and organic energy that emerges from movement, structured or unstructured. Physical skills, mental skills and teamwork are three big takeaways that will go beyond this class. Participating is a fantastic way to build strength, flexibility, and performance abilities while fostering teamwork and self-expression. Whether the student is a beginner or has prior experience, our class offers a dynamic way to grow in both athleticism and artistry. Overall, Dance and Cheer is a great class for those who enjoy both cheerleading and dancing, however, do not want to commit to just one. This class offers a chance to explore both disciplines.
