About the provider
Experienced and enthusiastic Texas teacher who can't wait to make virtual learning fun!
Welcome to my classroom, I'm Melissa Bosstick, I've been in the learning environment for over a combined 10 years, teaching preschool, working with 1-6th grade at risk with dyslexia and learning disabilities, coaching adults, substitute teaching for K-12 (in many classrooms) and in a high school contained classroom for special education. I teach Language arts (phonics, reading, writing, snd comprehension), math, science, social studies and life skills. I use a combination of direct teach with student centered activities in my classroom. I believe it's important to ask challenging questions and allow my students to do the same. I encourage the process of problem solving and independent thinking. I was trained at the University of Indianapolis in elementary education with a focus on special education and am finishing up at WGU. I've also been certified in the Orton-gillingham method at the Dyslexia Institute of Indianapolis, which is a multi-sensory phonics technique to teach reading and comprehension. In my down time you will find me walking & listening to my latest audio book!
